Due to the unavailability of a dedicated app for Android TV, we won’t discuss the traditional method for installing Google Drive on Android TV. We even tried running the .apk file of Google Drive on Android TV; however, it didn’t run efficiently because the remote navigation came to a halt in a while, and scrolling didn’t work at all.

So below, we have shown the steps to integrate Google Drive into your Android TV’s file. It’s a pretty convenient way with which you can get access to your Google Drive. Also, you can use it alongside your local directory. With that said, let’s now proceed further to the steps:

  1. The first thing you need to do is to go to your Android TV’s Play Store.
  2. Further, search for the Solid Explorer and install it. The app is free to download; however, it offers in-app purchases. Other file managers like X-plore or FX can also be used, but we recommend you to go for Solid Explorer as it’s comparatively good.
  3. Once the app installs, you need to launch it.
  4. Further, press the hamburger menu appearing on the left side on top.
  5. Then select the “Storage Manager” option from the three-dot menu.
  6. Now, on the next page, you need to select Google Drive.
  7. Then, tap on “Next.”
  8. Now input a display name if required and further press “Next,” appearing on the extreme right corner on the top.
  9. Then, press the “Login to Google Drive” option. You will be redirected to your existing Google account that you have linked to your Android TV. Simply select that account and proceed further. However, if required, you can also add a new Google account if desired.
  10. Once you have chosen the Google account, you need to allow permission to Solid Explorer to access the file from Google Drive of that particular mail id. To give permissions, click on “Allow.”
  11. After doing that, tap on “Next” and cross-check all the entered details.
  12. Lastly, press the “Connect” button. In the meanwhile, you might have to create a password for protecting your Google Drive files on Solid Explorer. It’s totally up to you if you want to do that or not. However, no doubt, enabling it will provide an additional layer of security to your data.
  13. Once you are done with the procedure, you will be able to access Google Drive under Solid Explorer’s hamburger menu. Opening it will allow you to access all your Google Drive files on your Android TV.

So, these were the step-by-step instructions with which Google Drive can be accessed on Android TV. It’s probably the best method to be followed if the users want to access media files from their drive on a bigger screen.
